Chamath Palihapitiya, an early bitcoin investor, announced his plans to run for the governor of California.

A group of wealthy technologists has joined together for the cause of the removal of Gavin Newsom as California governor. Some residents from California have displeased with his performance. The main dissatisfaction is about his slower approach towards expected vaccine rollout.

The billionaire investor and CEO of Venture Capital Firm Chamath Palihapitiya said he is eyeing to run for Newsom’s place. The Sri Lankan-born Canadian American Chamath was a former Facebook executive. In one of his tweets, he mentioned his ideas to run.

He used the hashtag #RecallGavinNewsom and showcased a link to a “Chamath for California Governor” campaign website. Palihapitiya could be running for the 2022 Gubernatorial race or potentially for a special election. However, the current Governor Newsom has not mentioned any plans yet, for his run for governor again in 2022.

Chamath Palihapitiya said to be purchased his first Bitcoin back in 2012 and preached others to have at least 1% of their savings in Bitcoin.
