Have you ever heard of a mining rig installed in a supercar? Simon Byrne has fixed a Bitcoin mining rig in the trunk of his BMW i8 car.

The BMW i8 is a plug-in hybrid sports car developed by German car manufacturer BMW. The I8 coupe can accelerate to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds, while the Roadster takes 4.6 seconds. Byrne has rigged 6 Nvidia RTX 3080s VGA cards in the trunk of his car, according to PC Gamer. The mining hardware is powered by the car’s hybrid battery.

Hardware Times, who spotted the mining-rig estimates, the car is worth approximately $147,500 upon acquisition. Further, mining hardware is powered by an ASUS B250 Mining Expert board with the power of EVGA SuperNova 1600 T2 Power supply.

Byrne explained that he built the mining rig in such an odd place “just to annoy gamers.” As per the Hardware Times, Byrne also owns another mining farm, which is occupied with 78 Geforce RTX 3080 graphics cards. His mining rig has the potential to generate approximately $128,088 per anum in profits.

The BMW i8 has a Nevada license plate, and it reads “HOLDER” on it.
